Barney was a white netherland dwarf who came to live with aged 6 weeks back in 1995 i had many rabbits at the time but Barney was different he lived indoors and had the full run of the house getting into all kinds of trouble from stripping the walls, chewing wires to jumping in the gloss tray when decorating and leaving little bunny prints all over the underlay....Barney had a relatively good life with very few problems untill march 2008 when barney had a very bad sroke leaving him almost dead but i refused to let him die and with his deterination and will to live we got him through two more minor strokes and syringe fed him water a carrot jar baby food and within three months he made a full recovery for 6 more months he was trouble free untill 2weeks before christmas 08 i found a very small lump under his belly i was devastated as the lump grew i asked the vet for advise and due to his age and previouse problems they said they would not operate but gave the option to end his life i couldn't do that as i knew he didn't want me to if he was in pain i would consider but he wasn't and just goes to show he lived for a further 8 months taking him to a very grand age of 14.... WITH SINCERE REMEMBRANCES: BARNEY 29/7/2011

I thank you
For this new day!
The air - brisk,
The sky - clear
My yesterdays are with you in memory and I am filled with peace.
The spiritual sun lights the way,
It glows forth and warms my soul
This day and year will be filled with this Light,
I breathe the gift of spiritual life.
Its silence and peace is overwhelming.
Here in the dawn of my new day and year
I remember the undying love of my earthly family and my friends.
I thank you,
I wait for you,
With love.

“I heard your voice in the wind today
and I turned to see your face,
The warmth of the wind caressed me
as I stood silently in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today
as its warmth filled the sky,
I closed my eyes for your embrace
and my spirit soared so high.

I saw you in ice – clad pools today
as I watched the falling rain
I know that as each raindrop fell
it quietly said your name.”

For All Animals

‘Lord, hear our prayer for our friends the animals,
especially for animals who are suffering;
for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;
for all that must be asked to rest,
We ask You for Your mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the
merciful.’

A SECRET
Author Unknown

"We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
for who but I can see you lie
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your small form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every brook I pass
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass."

The Old Year's hopes and heart are now laid down,
The blossoms of the New Year's crown
Bloom from the ashes of this time.

All days are sacred days to wake
New gladness quells the air.
Each sunrise precious in its will
Now sees a new year born.

Christmas Day, 2010.

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night... And the Angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people"' (Luke 2:8,10).

A CHRISTMAS TALE FOR BARNEY.

“Long ago in the deepest of winters all the animals on earth were abuzz with special news. "He is born! He is born!," cried the snowy owl. "Come one and all rejoice!" roared the mighty lion. "Bring gifts to the new King!" the deer hurried.

The forest grew bright with the din of excitement. Each creature was running towards a star. The noise, so loud and joyful, traveled to distant lands.

In a quiet glen, under a bramble bush, a small and lonely dog raised his head from his slumber and heard sounds from afar. He raised his weary head and wondered. He knew something was afoot but he knew not what.
A voice so sweet was singing in the distance; this he could hear. The words were not at all clear, but the sound was of waterfalls and misty mornings and everything dear. Eagerly he followed the sound and soon saw a star. It shone so brightly his fragile eyes watered. “What was this shiny thing that happily glowed? What could be happening that would bring about such a lovely sight?”

His shaking legs beat fast a path for many days. He became tired and hungry but still fought his way on. He followed the sound of that voice; the voice that reminded him of warmer and kinder times, as did the light of the star.

When he came into a clearing his eyes beheld such a sight. Everywhere there were animals and each had a precious gift. Some brought shiny berries from the forest, some brought glistening leaves, some brought twigs from the rarest of trees and some even brought the most precious wildflowers of the field. Animals were laying these gifts at the entrance of a stable. Above the stable the light of the great star shone more brightly than before.

The little dog turned to the deer and asked: "What is this lovely place?" The deer replied, "You have come to see your new King born but added sternfully “ Where are your gifts?" "I have no gifts,” said the fearful, lonely and tired dog as he held his head low.

The frightened dog's body trembled, his tail reached between his shaking legs and his head was lowered even more. He sat in shame. Yet in time he crept quietly to the stable. Hidden and comforted by the bodies of other animals he made his way to a manger. He lifted his bowed head. He opened his eyes. He looked. A gentle hand touched him. A woman's voice said, "There is no fear now.The bramble entwined in your fur is your gift to my Son. You are safe, now.” The woman held gently the little dog and said, “.Behold the Son of Man, whom you shall well serve."

So it came to pass that this little dog and all animals present were no longer lonely and with their many descendants, protected by their earthly guardians, served well the Son of Man. "

I still hear your voice...
It echoes the mountains....
It whistles over the treetops,
and dances with the wind.

It moves in harmony with the clouds
skating the sleet blue sky...
It chases the waters...
In oceans of green ... and owns the majesty
in the sound of rain.

It catches the snow
and the leaves in fall...
It claims a path,
down my beating heart.

It's a whisper on my shoulder
a promise unspoken...
It unfolds my day
like petals of a rose...
